1. What do we call the Hebrew Bible?
Tanakh

2. What does Tanakh stand for?
Tanakh is an acronym:

TAV- for Torah

NUN- for Nevi-im (Prophets)

KHAF- for K’tuvim (Writings) (KHAF is the considered the same letter as Kaf. With no dot in its middle it is pronounced KH as in the ch in Bach.)

3. TORAH is the earliest Jewish telling of the story of the creation of the world and of our history. It also states the laws and beliefs on which Judaism is based.

N’VI-IM is the collection of pronouncements and stories as told by the prophets. Nevi-im tells the story of ancient nation of Israel.

K’TUVIM is the collection of literature and books relating poetry and stories, for example: Psalms, Proverbs, Esther, Job and Ruth.
