Lift your eyes, the Torah calls, Sit at the opening of awareness, The opening of this moment And lift your eyes.   There are messengers to guide you. Messengers who come bearing gifts And messengers who come to challenge you To your very core.   This is what it is.   Sit at the opening, Lift your eyes, Life is calling.   May we arise to meet the moment with courage, love and strength.   Shabbat Shalom

May our hearts be strong and filled with courage. May we expect the Divine Presence. psalm 31:25 And together may we bring the Presence forth in love and strength.

I lost my way. I forgot to call your name. The raw heart beat against the world, and tears were for my lost victory. But you are here. You have always been here. The world is all forgetting, and the heart is a rage of directions, but your name unifies the heart, and the world is lifted into its place.  Blessed is the one who waits in the traveler's heart for his turning. The river this morning Was quiet and calm. It seemed to hold the light of a new day with ease.   I did my best to reach for gratitude. The trees were shining orange and red, Blue jays were calling, People walking by paused to say hello. And yet Sadness, pain, anger and horror Held me tight.   I gave thanks anyway. Said my prayers. And stood still until I could touch with my heart something I loved.   We have a long road ahead of us. And we will need all of our wisdom and all of...

With deep love and appreciation for our veterans. May we honor them by supporting dignified and high quality health care, education and job training for all our returning troops. And may we honor them by pursuing peace, choosing love and reaching for understanding. Thank you to all who have served.

Dear Friends, As I sit with the earth shattering election results I am so aware of the pain, sadness and anger that fills me. And I am so aware of the sensations of fearing what will be. There is so much we do not know. And then I do my best to remember there is so much we do know: We know our strength comes from each other.  We are stronger when we reach out to each other, when we connect, when we help each other remember that we are not alone. And we know kindness and generosity is...

May it be that many years from now, our children’s, children’s, children will say of us: Give thanks for our ancestors, for the choices they made, for the work they did. Give thanks for our ancestors and for this beautiful, loving, compassionate, peace-filled world they left for us. The choice today is in our hands.

This day before Election Day may we pause and lift our eyes to what we love. May we give thanks for what we appreciate about this country. And may we set an intention to make a strong effort to meet each other with kindness and patience. May we continue to remember that we are all here together —an intricate, interdependent whole—and every being has value, every being has worth.   Everything we do matters.  May we act with compassion and love for the sake of peace....

As we come close to Election Day Let’s remember what we love, what we care about, what we value. And let’s be guided by these visions. As spiritual activist Terry Tempest Williams has said: The eyes of the future are looking at us And they are praying for us to see beyond our own time. May we make choices that will help create a loving, compassionate, just world for our children’s, children’s, children’s children.
Rabbi Yael Levy | 11/04/2016 - 10:39am

Rabbi Yael Levy | 11/03/2016 - 9:45pm
May we place upon our hearts the intention to speak in ways that create connection and bring forth kindness.  Let’s ask ourselves today: How can I act for the benefit and well being of others?

As we continue to welcome the month of Heshvan may we manifest our strength and determination to create the country and the world we long for.  It is up to us.  The possibility for creation and destruction is in our hands. May we seek understanding, build bridges across differences and answer the deep yearnings for love, connection, peace and wholeness that sings in our hearts and in the heart of the world.
Rabbi Yael Levy | 11/01/2016 - 2:06pm
The teachings of our ancestors say: Our world is uplifted by din, emet, v’shalom Clear judgment, truth and peace. pirke avot 1:18 As we enter the month of heshvan one week before election day: May we support each other in keeping our eyes and hearts open so our judgment is clear and our words and actions are wise and compassionate. May we hold our truths lightly, knowing there are many perspectives and many truths. And may we listen well to the truths of the universe that remind us...
