Adult Education

Download Catalog

Welcome to Mishkan Shalom’s Lifelong Learning Catalog.  As you read through the attached 15 pages, you will find a variety of classes, learning opportunities and events that can help you perform the classic Jewish Mitzvah: Learning.

Courses are described, teachers presented and when necessary, prerequisites made obvious so that you can choose a venue that suits you.  What you don’t see now, but will undoubtedly experience, is the intelligence, warmth and openness that develops in these classes.  Camaraderie, connection and  community – developed through growing our knowledge of what it means to be Jewish in this day and age.

Our courses are open to members and non-members alike, Jews and non-Jews, older and recent adults.  All you have to do is sign up and get to Mishkan.

A word about Money:  Prices for most courses are nominal and the money is used to fund adult education expenses including teacher payments, books, supplies and promotion.  Some courses are free, particularly those which help people learn Jewish religious practices.  If you are grateful for what happens, please make donations.  If you are a non-member attending a free class, please make a donation.  Our program relies on a cycle of support.

Want a class you don’t see?  Our goal is to help people who want to learn find a venue they will enjoy.  If there is a topic or teacher you’d like, e-mail the Adult Education Chair, Nancy Post.  Test your idea with a few people.  If 6 or more want a class, we can usually run it.

Join Our Committee!  Right now, a few good people put all this together.  We work well, enjoy each other and have dinner together
once or twice a year to brainstorm.  There are no regular meetings and
we each do what we can.  We’d love a few more players on this team.
If you’d like to help make adult education happen, email Nancy Post.
